RIENZOME / Chusen Tenugui (Tokyo)
“Tenugui” is a hand-wiper, is a thin Japanese hand towel made from cotton.
“Chusen” is the traditional Japanese dyeing technique by which cloth is dyed.
Paste is attached to the portion on which cloth does not dye, and dye is poured out.
Therefore, dye becomes as if the dyeing is blurred, and spreads finely to the core of cloth.
The cloth dyed by Chusen was a material mainly indispensable to Japanese people as cloth of a yukata (informal summertime kimono).
